Though Bhilwara is an industrial town, visitors can find many attractions in the town and its neighbouring areas.
Bhilwara had been sacked several times by invaders over the centuries and takes its name from its Bhil inhabitants though ironically they were driven away from here later. Another story has it that Bhilwara reportedly had a mint where coins known as 'Bhiladi' were made; these lent their name to the city.
There are many attractions near Bhilwara. These include places like Banera, Bijolia, Menal, Shahpura, Gangapur and Mandal. Bhilwara is synonymous with cloth mills and stone quarries.
